Sally Bird (Mayhew) is a qualified professional translator (DipTrans), working from French to English. She specialises in literary nonfiction, modern and contemporary art, and psychoanalysis, but also has long-term relationships with agencies throughout the world, for whom she provides regular, high quality translations of a general nature. 

 

She undertakes all sorts of editing and proofreading work, as well as creating content for websites, newsletters and marketing materials.

Projects have included the translation of a short story by Xavier Fourtou, published by Fauves Editions (Paris) in November 2020; a trilogy by the same author that traces the life of his maternal grandfather through the wars of 1870, 1914, and 1939; exhibition catalogues on The History of Congolese Painting, and the work of contemporary French artist Pierre Soulages.
